Submarine rescue system triumphs in international exercise

JFD has again set new global benchmarks for international submarine rescue following the successful completion of rigorous exercises off the coast of Western Australia. In challenging conditions with strong winds and seas of up to Sea State 6, JFD’s fully integrated submarine rescue system demonstrated its robustness and reliability in the triennial PACIFIC REACH, a multi-lateral series of exercises, hosted in 2019 by Australia with the participating nations of South Korea, Japan, Malaysia and the United States and many other observing countries from the Indo-Pacific region.

Partnership signed with Innovation Maritime

JFD has announced a new partnership with Innovation Maritime, a non-profit innovation organisation developing marine solutions through applied research, technical assistance and information dissemination. The partnership, which will support global sales of the Submarine Escape Trainer (SET), is part of JFD’s ongoing ambition to improve safety and preserve the lives of submariners across the globe. The partnership will further the ability of submarine operating nations to train their submariners for escape and abandonment scenarios in the most realistic environment possible.

JFD awarded contract for submarine rescue equipment to China Shipbuilding & Offshore International Co, Ltd

JFD, the world leading underwater capability provider serving the commercial and defence diving markets and part of James Fisher and Sons plc, today announces it has been awarded a multi-million pound contract for the design and build of submarine rescue equipment, including advanced Deep Search and Rescue Vehicles (DSAR), as part of a comprehensive submarine rescue capability being provided to China Shipbuilding & Offshore International Co., Ltd.

JFD launches new dual mode bite mouthpiece for rebreathers

JFD, the world leading underwater capability provider serving the commercial and defence diving markets and part of James Fisher and Sons plc, has today announced a major safety upgrade to its Stealth rebreathers range that will significantly reduce the potential for incidents when switching to bail-out gas during mine countermeasures and explosive ordnance disposal (MCM-EOD) operations, as well as other underwater missions.

JFD's range of Diver Recovery Harnesses enhanced to comply with the new CE regulations

The JFD Diver Recovery Harness range has been enhanced to comply with the new CE regulations. The range was reviewed, retested and recertified to conform to the Personal Protective Equipment European regulation 2016/425 and satisfies the essential requirements of BS EN 15333-1-2008.

World’s first 500m rated saturation diving products

The products have been developed as part of a saturation diving system for a leading offshore service provider. JFD to re-establish Closed Bell Diver training

JFD has today announced that it has acquired the closed bell saturation diving system and associated assets formally owned by The Underwater Centre. The acquisition will enable JFD to re-establish the leading global closed bell diver training programme - also known as sat diver training - and the only UK-based training capability that will fulfil an urgent market need for skilled saturation divers.

JFD signs partnership with Y-40

JFD owner and operator of the world’s deepest pool (42.15m), to facilitate submarine escape training as required by navies worldwide. The partnership is in line with JFD’s strategy and ongoing commitment to providing submariners with a total support capability from training through to the delivery of a complete submarine rescue service. The development further strengthens JFD’s presence in the Italian market, and going forward the company will expand the use of the pool to include training for military and commercial divers.

JFD acquires Ortega Submersibles

JFD has today announced its acquisition of all the assets, IP and designs rights of Ortega Submersibles BV, the Netherlands-based submersible boat designer and manufacturer. The acquisition will enable JFD to expand further its offering of advanced Swimmer Delivery Vehicles (SDVs) and to develop new vehicles and capabilities in order to meet increased market demand for specialised small and medium-sized craft.
