Rob Hales, Managing Director of JFD:

JFD is proud of its support to the Armed Forces and Defence for the UK and partner nations.  JFD focuses on the safety of military personnel, enabling them to achieve mission success in the harshest operating environment on Earth.  As an employer of veterans and reservists, JFD recognised their service to our nations and the outstanding skills and experience they offer to industry. We value the unique perspective that those who have served can bring to our business, as we support our Defence customers around the world.

Andy McPhearson, Armed Forces Veteran, JFD Global Operations Manager (Submarine Escape & Rescue):

It was great to hear that JFD had achieved the Bronze award of the Armed Forces Covenant. The Defence Sector plays a huge part in what we do at JFD and recognising the part that our Armed Forces Veterans play in the day-to-day running of the wider business is a credit to JFD.

Veterans bring a diverse and adaptable skill set, particularly enhancing our capabilities in the defence sector Enabling us to interact directly with our military clients with the right mix of respect and diplomacy. Their inherent leadership and management skills, developed at various levels during military service, contribute significantly to the business.

In my current role as Global Operations Manager, the direct interaction with foreign Navies is a testament to the success that stems from these attributes.

Callum O'connor, Armed Forces Veteran, JFD Mechanical Technician:

I was very pleased to hear that JFD has achieved an Armed Forces Covenant Bronze Award. The award represents a real commitment to the veteran community and a recognition of the outstanding contributions that veterans and reservists can bring to any business. This is particularly relevant to JFD, as a major supplier of specialist kit and systems to the defence community.

I first became aware of JFD after joining the Royal Navy as a Mine Clearance Diver. In that role I was the end user of JFD produced diving kit, and was completely reliant on it to keep me safe on operations. When dealing with live ordinance at depth, it is essential to have total confidence in your equipment! I was also an operator on the NSRS system and was once again impressed with the quality of JFD systems.

Unfortunately I suffered an injury in the course of my duties, and ended up being medically discharged from the Navy. The process was nerve-racking, given the uncertainties associated with a complete change of lifestyle and career. However this process was greatly eased by JFD. They were very understanding and accommodating of my situation and recognised the value of my experience. I now look forward to continuing my journey with JFD and offering any help I can to others leaving the forces.
