JFD has today announced that it has acquired the closed bell saturation diving system and associated assets formally owned by The Underwater Centre. The acquisition will enable JFD to re-establish the leading global closed bell diver training programme - also known as sat diver training - and the only UK-based training capability that will fulfil an urgent market need for skilled saturation divers.
JFD signs partnership with Y-40
JFD owner and operator of the world’s deepest pool (42.15m), to facilitate submarine escape training as required by navies worldwide. The partnership is in line with JFD’s strategy and ongoing commitment to providing submariners with a total support capability from training through to the delivery of a complete submarine rescue service. The development further strengthens JFD’s presence in the Italian market, and going forward the company will expand the use of the pool to include training for military and commercial divers.
JFD acquires Ortega Submersibles
JFD has today announced its acquisition of all the assets, IP and designs rights of Ortega Submersibles BV, the Netherlands-based submersible boat designer and manufacturer. The acquisition will enable JFD to expand further its offering of advanced Swimmer Delivery Vehicles (SDVs) and to develop new vehicles and capabilities in order to meet increased market demand for specialised small and medium-sized craft.

JFD has today announced a strategic partnership with the Aquacentrum Den Helder, which combines submarine escape training, commercial diving training and recreational pools for public use within a single building. JFD has successfully completed rigorous mating trials of its latest Portable Hyperbaric Reception Facility (PHRF) for TechnipFMC, a global leader in subsea, onshore, offshore and surface technologies. The successful completion of the trials, conducted with two of TechnipFMC’s vessels, provides divers with the assurance that every possible measure has been put into place to ensure their safety should there be an incident.
JFD completes training for Indian Navy
JFD, the world leading underwater capability provider serving the commercial and defence diving markets, and part of James Fisher and Sons plc, has successfully completed sea acceptance trials and training on the second of two advanced submarine rescue systems recently delivered to the Indian Navy. The completion of the sea acceptance trials, conducted on the east coast of India at Visakhapatnam where the system will be based, marks a key milestone in ensuring there is a comprehensive fly-away submarine rescue capability in place that will safeguard the lives of submariners operating anywhere in the world.
