JFD a finalist in major Australian defence industry awards

JFD is delighted to announce that it has been shortlisted for the Defence Connect Australian Defence Industry Awards 2019.

JFD has been named a finalist in the category of SME (small to medium enterprise) of the Year.

With its Australian headquarters at Bibra Lake, south of Perth and further advanced manufacturing centres at Kirrawee (Sydney) and Newcastle in NSW, JFD is the proven and trusted Australian provider of systems that keep people safe under water.

For more than a decade, it has also supplied the fast, safe and reliable submarine escape and rescue service to the Royal Australian Navy (RAN).

This service was recently enhanced with the delivery of a $19.7m hyperbaric equipment suite which means that for the first time, the entire crew of a Collins-class submarine can be rescued and treated at the same time.

“Being named a finalist in these prestigious awards is a real thrill for the whole team at JFD Australia as it recognises all the hard work that has been put in by our 100-strong local workforce of highly-skilled tradespeople and engineers,” said Mr. Toff Idrus, Managing Director, JFD Australia.

“Keeping Australian submariners and other defence force personnel safe has been and will always be JFD’s highest priority.

“Submarine escape and rescue is a key sovereign capability and to be recognised for that contribution to Australian defence is a big honour for our Australian company.”

It is the first year of the awards which aim to honour and recognise the outstanding achievements made by both individuals and firms working in Australia’s defence industry.

More than 600 submissions representing over 150 Australian defence industry companies were received across 32 categories.

The winners will be announced at a gala awards ceremony on Thursday, 26 September at the National Museum of Australia, Canberra.
