JFD welcomes Peter Laughton MBE as Head of Military Diving
JFD Limited, part of James Fisher & Sons PLC, the world leading underwater capability provider serving the commercial and defence diving markets, is pleased to welcome Peter Laughton as Head of Military Diving to support the company’s continued growth within both the UK and international defence markets.
Peter brings over 32 years of extensive operational experience in the Royal Navy, with a substantial part of his career at sea in frigates, destroyers, and minehunters. His specialisation since 1998 as a Mine Clearance Diving Officer, along with his recent operational command of a 12-nation International Maritime Security Construct and Coalition Task Force SENTINEL, ensures that, as Head of Military Diving, Peter will provide unparalleled expertise and knowledge to enhance JFD’s Defence Diving Product Line.
As a member of the Defence Management Team, Peter will be accountable for the general management of our global Defence Diving team and responsible for the further development and implementation of our strategy and delivering mission success to our customers. A key part of Peter’s role will be working closely with our international teams and customers to develop JFD’s Military Diving product portfolio for the future, enhancing our offering in response to the requirements and challenges faced by modern dive teams.
Richard Devlin, Defence Director of JFD said:
“JFD is thrilled to announce the appointment of Peter Laughton to join the team. His depth of practical experience and knowledge will help us gain a distinctive perspective and build our competitive advantage as we work to strengthen our portfolio to better support the strategic requirements for our customers not only for today but also looking towards the future. Having Peter on our team and leveraging his operational expertise will significantly enhance JFD's commitment to ensuring the safety of subsea workers"
JFD's ongoing design evolution of their Military Diving systems, catering to Special Forces and Mine Clearance operations in alignment with customer-specific needs ensures consistent delivery of unparalleled safety, performance and availability supporting a wide range of missions. This positions JFD as the preferred underwater life support system for Special Operations and Mine Clearance Divers globally.
Peter Laughton said:
“I am genuinely thrilled to be joining JFD as the Head of Military Diving. It’s a hugely exciting and challenging role that is in many respects a wonderful return to where it all began as a Mine Clearance Diving Officer. I look forward to playing my part applying my expertise and passion for innovation to further enhance safety and operational efficiency for underwater operators.
Given my reliance on JFD life support systems throughout my Naval career, I am looking forward to transferring my operational understanding to help JFD continue its success as a leading provider of complex and critical systems supporting leading Navies globally.”
