JFD and SAAB Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Enhance Underwater Defence Capabilities 

 

 

 

 

JFD, part of James Fisher and Sons plc, is proud to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with SAAB, combining its expertise in submarine systems and ROVs with JFD’s world-leading underwater capabilities. This collaboration aims to deliver unparalleled underwater defence solutions in the UK, Sweden, and internationally.

The joint MOU combines the unique and specialist strengths of both organisations to offer a range of products and services that meet the most demanding underwater defence requirements. JFD brings its expertise in the manufacture, assured availability and operation of complex submarine platforms, submarine rescue vehicles and defence diving equipment, while SAAB contributes its proficiency in submarine design, ROVs, and AUVs.

This agreement enables a holistic approach to underwater defence solutions and access to a broad spectrum of specialised expertise from engineering design and production to integration, global deployment and in service support.

  • Integration within ongoing and future international submarine programmes to deliver cutting edge technologies and solutions which enhance safety and efficiency for submariners.
  • Solutions for Submarine Rescue Systems including life extension and full replacement options to ensure the ongoing safety and capability of global submarine rescue operations.
  • Launch and recovery solutions for ROVs and AUVs.
  • Anti-submarine warfare training.
  • Seabed warfare, including addressing emerging threats and solutions to protect and safeguard Critical National Infrastructure.

By joining forces, JFD and SAAB offer a comprehensive suite of solutions backed by unparalleled expertise in the underwater domain. This agreement not only streamlines the procurement process for customers but also provides assurance of the highest standards of safety, quality, innovation and in service support throughout the project lifecycle.
