JFD launches first flexible rebreather capability for military combat divers

JFD, the world-leading underwater capability provider serving the commercial and defence diving markets and part of James Fisher and Sons plc, has announced the launch of its Shadow/B defence rebreather, providing the market with a back-mounted rebreather capability, from their established product line, for the first time. Combined with a conversion kit that allows divers to convert from a front-mounted to a back-mounted rebreather, the launch of the Shadow/B represents the latest in a long line of technological developments designed to enhance safety in military combat diving.
JFD wins Korean DSRV contract
JFD, the world leading underwater capability provider serving the commercial and defence diving markets and part of James Fisher and Sons plc, has been awarded a multi-million pound contract for the design and build of an advanced Deep Search and Rescue Vehicle (DSRV), as part of a comprehensive submarine rescue capability being provided to the Republic of Korea Navy (RoKN). The contract, awarded by South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME), will ensure the provision of an advanced and highly capable submarine rescue vehicle to the South Korean Navy that will ensure the highest standards in safety for submariners.

JFD completes Black Carillon 2018
JFD successfully completes annual Black Carillon submarine rescue exercise with the Royal Australian Navy.
JFD has successfully completed air transportability trials for the first of two Third Generation submarine rescue systems being delivered to the Indian Navy. The completion of the trials represents a significant milestone in the delivery of a comprehensive submarine rescue capability to the Indian Navy that will enhance safety for submariners.
In an historic development in subsea safety, divers from Russia's Pacific Fleet recently achieved a record deep dive, reaching a depth of 416 meters in the Sea of Japan - the first time in the history of the Russian Navy that a dive of this depth has been achieved. The dive was performed using JFD’s 12-man saturation diving system rated to 450m water depth and SLS MK IV bail out rebreather system.
