The aim is to identify potential failure modes before they occur and to minimise the risk of failure.
The JFD FMECA courses are designed to provide suitably experienced technical personnel with the understanding and framework for performing a FMECA.
The course is split into an awareness (one day) and a practitioner (three day) course.
The courses are specifically focused on a saturation dive system and uses the NHC in house saturation system for practical exercises.

Course Overview
The one day NHC FMECA Overview Training Course is designed to provide delegates with an understanding of the methodology, purpose, function and application of a FMECA, in addition to the approach for reviewing existing FMECA’s.
Although the FMECA awareness course is a stand-alone module, it also acts as day one of the three day course designed for FMECA practitioners.
FMECAs are designed to:-
- Identify potential failure modes for a system
- Assess the risk associated with those failure modes
- Rank the issues in terms of importance
- Identify corrective actions required to address the most critical concerns
Although applicable to any industry, the NHC FMECA Awareness Course has been designed to specifically focus on Saturation Diving Systems.

- Operational procedures
- Preventative maintenance plans
Course Objectives
Provide delegates with an awareness and understanding of:
- FMECA History
- FMECA Methodology
- FMECA Team structure and selection
- Defining the scope, parameters and boundaries of a FMECA
- Preparing for the FMECA
- Performing the FMECA
- Ranking the criticality items
- Verifying the FMECA
- Applying the FMECA
Course Content
Theoretical modules are complemented by detailed practical sessions.
On completion of this course delegates will be briefed on:
- The principles and importance of FMECA
- The process for executing a FMECA on a simple mechanical system
Entry Requirements
- No prior experience is required for the FMECA Awareness course. Delegates can attend from any industry.
- Candidates should attend the course with a laptop with both MS Word and MS Excel installed, and a power cable.
Certification
On completion of the course, each student is issued with a NHC certificate of attendance.
Note this certification is an attendance certificate only – NHC does not deem delegates trained to perform; or participate in a FMECA after attending the course.
