Rescue Seat Certification

A service offered by JFD to support the Escape readiness of the vessel, ensuring the Escape Seat is structurally sound to take an escape submersible.

JFD's rescue seat certification demonstrates that the rescue seat is designed, manufactured and maintained in accordance with the dimensional and structural requirements of the most current NATO standard.

JFD's certification process will recognise either full compliance or non-compliance to the requirements ANEP/MNEP 85/85.1.

Submarine Rescue

Why Rescue Seat Certification Matters

In the event of a submarine emergency, time is critical. Rescue operations rely on flawless compatibility between SRVs and the rescue seat on a distressed submarine (DISSUB). JFD’s certification process reduces operational risk by:

  • Verifying full or partial compliance with ANEP/MNEP 85/85.1
  • Identifying any design limitations or obstructions
  • Providing a technical data package for integration into global rescue frameworks
  • Supporting collaborative discussions between submarine owners and rescue asset operators

Further Information

Following the submission of prerequisite documentation, JFD carries out a structured survey that includes:

  • Computer modelling
  • Physical survey
    • Rescue seat external dimensions
    • Rescue seat plate thickness
    • Rescue seat plate flatness
    • Rescue seat operation / obstructions
    • Hold down point / turnbuckles (if fitted)
    • Additional fittings etc.
  • Quality assurance
  • Outcomes and documentation
  • Delivery
  • Assistance with owner discussions Shape
