Safeguarding life through advanced atmosphere control

In the event of a submarine in distress (DISSUB), maintaining a safe internal atmosphere is critical. JFD’s Distressed Submarine Ventilation and Decompression System (DSVDS) is a unique, fully integrated solution that enables real-time analysis, control, and improvement of a DISSUB’s internal environment; enhancing survivability and enabling recovery.

Combining decades of experience in commercial saturation diving and submarine rescue, JFD has developed a closed-loop system that manages pressure, injects breathable gas, and supports controlled decompression—all compliant with NATO ANEP-85 standards.

Key Capabilities

In a Distressed Submarine (DISSUB) scenario a submarine will likely face increased pressure and possible contamination.

JFD’s DSVDS plays a vital role in submarine rescue readiness by:

  • Maintaining a breathable atmosphere Oxygen injection and CO₂ scrubbing to keep the environment safe.
  • Closed-Loop Gas Management Enables the removal of contaminated air and generation of nitrogen to address Pulmonary Oxygen Toxicity (POT).
  • Pre-Rescue Stabilisation Allows for internal pressure control and gas injection prior to escape or rescue operations.
  • Early Decompression Initiation Reduces pressure buildup and risk while preparing submariners for recovery.
  • Water Evacuation Support Provides gas injection to help clear flooded compartments before salvage.

Key Components

JFD’s DSVDS is engineered for fast mobilisation and vessel integration. The complete system includes:

  • Container 1: Gas control and regeneration
  • Container 2: Air and nitrogen generation
  • Subsea Booster System
  • Launch & Recovery System with Active Heave -Compensated Winch
