Introducing JFD’s 4th-Generation Submarine Rescue System

Agile pushes the boundaries of possibility, addressing the most critical challenges faced by navies worldwide. With an advanced design optimised for rapid and flexible mobilisation, it delivers reliability when it matters most. At JFD, we not only manufacture these systems but also ensure their long-term performance through expert maintenance. The Agile design reflects both of these priorities, built on our deep knowledge and proven experience in submarine rescue.

Design Drivers

The AGILE SRV

The Agile SRV has been inspired by the same drivers we used for our 3rd Generation SRS but we have taken them a step further to create a completely modular and containerised system.

Design Through Experience

No other organisation can boast the number of hours dived, mobilisations and exercises completed. All this experience goes into the design to provide an optimal, low-risk solution.

JFD builds hyperbaric, diving and submersible equipment for both the commercial and defence industries and has a proven track record for quality, reliability and delivery.

Increased Flexibility

Containerised to increase flexibility and configuration options for transport and embarkation; enhances ability to respond efficiently to any DISSUB incident.

Agile is the first system capable of transport within a commercial aircraft significantly increasing air transport options in the time of need.

Prioritising time to first rescue

With only 72-hours of emergency life support on board a submarine, time is the greatest challenge. A successful rescue depends on rapid response, swift mobilisation, and immediate action. Agile is designed to meet these critical time pressures, offering a new solution that enables faster deployment. Its optimised system footprint also enhances road transport options, further reducing delays and ensuring readiness when every hour counts.

Commercial Aircraft

  • The Agile system's weight and dimensions are optimised to be suitable for more vessels including commercial aircraft.
  • The compact Agile system is optimised to maximise the number of available suitable aircraft for transportation.
  • The Agile system is unique in its ability to be easily transported via commercial aircraft which provides significantly increased transport options.

Minimises Trucks

A more compact system requires less logistically, resulting in a simplified and Agile solution to a DISSUB emergency.

Every aspect of the rescue has been carefully considered for optimal performance.

Air Transport Pallets

Agile is designed for use with Air Transport pallets making it easier to load equipment onto aircraft quickly.

Rapid Mobilisation to Vessels of Opportunity (VOOs)

Agile streamlines the embarkation phase, simplifying mobilisation through concurrent sub-assembly, fewer ship interfaces, and optimised processes. By reducing complexity and time, the system ensures smoother integration at sea. At the same time, Agile maximises the number of suitable Vessels of Opportunity (VOOs) able to host the Submarine Rescue System, delivering greater flexibility and operational readiness.

Providing Submarine Rescue anywhere in the world, exactly when it's required

Future-Proofed with the Latest Technology

Incorporating proven state-of-the-art technology; Agile enhances operational performance through reliability and safety. The design is ‘future-proofed’ ready for advances in automation and other emerging technologies.

Technology

The Agile System incorporates technology transferred from the Commercial Diving industry and JFD brands Divex and Fathom Systems enabling enhanced atmosphere monitoring, environmental conditioning and hyperbaric monitoring capability.

Agile offers a no-compromise solution which takes the best of our proven Third Generation Rescue System and enhances technology, transportation and mobilisation capability to directly address one of the biggest rescue challenges faced by Navies globally; getting to the DISSUB in time

Mixed Gas Capability

Addressing one of the worlds major capability gaps in submarine Rescue.

Using proven technology to provide a mixed gas capability to truly address people under pressure.

Working with Redundancy for a safer system

Central to the Agile systems design is a robust redundancy framework: including dedicated power supply and redundancy modules, ensuring safer, more reliable performance in every mission. The result is a future-proofed, highly capable rescue system that navies can depend on when it matters most.

Simplification

The Agile system reduces complexity to improve core operations, increase system maintainability and provided improved resistance to obsolescence.

Simplicity built in

The Agile system removes the reliance on bespoke or modified equipment, thus reducing the risk of obsolescence and high costs to a customer through life.
